From State to Stage: Winning Gold at WorldSkills México
October 18, 2023

My journey through WorldSkills México was more than just a competition—it was a defining chapter in my growth as a robotics student, teammate, and future engineer.
Representing my state on the national stage was already a huge honor, but winning first place in the robotics mobile category made the experience unforgettable. It was the result of months of preparation, testing, learning, and relentless dedication. Every challenge we faced—technical setbacks, time pressure, design decisions—pushed us to adapt and improve.
What made this achievement even more special was the sense of teamwork. Robotics isn’t a solo sport. My teammate and I had to build trust, coordinate under pressure, and make fast decisions together. That kind of experience teaches you lessons no textbook ever could.
Winning gold at WorldSkills México gave me more than just a medal. It gave me confidence—the kind that comes from knowing you gave it your all and rose to the occasion. It also opened the door to represent my country on the international stage, a dream that started right there on the competition floor in Mexico.
But perhaps the most meaningful part was realizing the impact this had on others around me. Younger students started to see what was possible. My story became something they could follow, and now I work to mentor and guide them—just like others once did for me.
If you’re passionate about tech or robotics, I can’t recommend WorldSkills México enough. It’s not just about winning—though that part is amazing. It’s about discovering who you are when the pressure is on, and what you’re truly capable of achieving.
